On 26 July, on the eve of Healthcare Workers’ Day, Poltava hosted the sixth edition of the city-wide campaign "Museum Staff Thank Healthcare Workers", launched as a gesture of gratitude to those who safeguard people’s health and lives every day.

This year, around 50 healthcare workers took part in the event, visiting the city’s municipal museums free of charge. Exhibitions and displays were opened to the guests, and themed tours were organised, offering a fresh perspective on the history of Poltava and its notable figures.

The Ivan Kotliarevskyi Literary and Memorial Museum organised a special programme, featuring a themed tour entitled "Kotliarevskyi and Medicine".

During the tour, visitors learnt about the development of medicine in the Poltava region as far back as the Hetmanate era, the emergence of medicine in provincial Poltava, and a little-known aspect of Ivan Kotliarevskyi’s work as a patron of Poltava’s charitable institutions.

The "Museum Staff Thank Medical Workers" initiative was launched in 2020 as a gesture of gratitude to doctors for their selfless work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, it has become a cherished tradition within Poltava’s museum community. For the sixth year running, the city’s museums have been expressing their sincere gratitude to healthcare workers by inviting them to visit museum exhibitions and take guided tours free of charge, as a mark of respect for their profession and their contribution to safeguarding people’s lives and health.
