World Tourism Day has been celebrated since 1980 at the initiative of the World Tourism Organization, operating under the auspices of the United Nations. Ukraine joined the above-mentioned initiative in 1998, when, according to the decree of the President of Ukraine, September 27 began to be celebrated annually as the Day of Tourism in Ukraine.
