The plays "Natalka Poltavka" and "Moskal the wisard" were created for the stage of the latter by the classic of Ukrainian literature. Some roles were written by Kotliarevskyi for the actor of the troupe Mykhailo Shchepkin, who was redeemed from serfdom while working in Poltava. In the postwar years, the Music and Drama Theater received a new room, which is still located, with 530 seats (1958, architects O. Krylov, O. Malyshenko).
