The Americans immediately christened the operation "Frantic Joe", ie "Frenzied Joe". It is not known exactly what the name came from. Probably from the famous nickname of the leader of the USSR Joseph Stalin "Uncle Joe", sometimes "Frenzied Uncle Joe" or from the slang synonym of "crazy" American cowboys.
Since 1949, regiments of the 13th Guards Heavy Bomber Division, which was the first to receive Tu-4 heavy bombers, a Soviet copy of the American Superforteca, were stationed at Poltava airfield airfields.
The Poltava Museum exhibits a unique collection of photographs, documents, books, special envelopes, emblems, badges, a copy of the Declaration of the Allied Powers of December 1, 1943, a map with marked airfields of base units and connections - participants in shuttle flights, mission diagrams. as part of the operation. A special exhibit of the museum is the US flag, which the leaving allies left in memory of the fighting commonwealth.
Unique photographic documents provided to Ukraine by the US National Archives after the exhibition were transferred to Poltava museums and the State Archives of Poltava region.
